Spam Karma at Rest

10:00 pm

A test: I’ve de-activated the Spam Karma plugin temporarily. If you’ve had trouble leaving comments here (FireFly, Todd, etc), go ahead and give it a shot now. Let’s see how long I can last without re-activating Spam Karma. Also: if you’re using the AOL browser, you may not be able to leave comments; if so, try using FireFox or MS Internet Explorer to leave a comment.

UPDATE: well, that didn’t last long…a flurry of comment spam overnight. Spam Karma is now re-activated. So let’s try Door #2: if you’ve had trouble leaving a comment, then go ahead and register here - just select a user-name, provide your e-mail address, and a password will be mailed to you. As a registered user, you should have no problem at all leaving comments.

  2. What is needed, of course, is a plugin that deletes, not spam, but actual spammers. (Whoever invents this will be worthy of a Nobel Prize.)

  3. The previous comment took (using Firefox 1.0.7); however, the screen was filled with PHP errors (or something) instead of the rebuilt page. Is this the problem people are reporting?

  4. Yep - happened to Allison in the entry above — she got the errors and naturally assumed that her comment did not “take” when in fact it did.
