Contest Winner
We have a winner! Firefly knew the answer to the question in this entry from last week, wherein I asked what the list of celebrities had in common. The answer: they all appeared in the “group song” scene at the end of the movie “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” I saw the movie for the first time last week, and although I don’t care 99% of Beatles music as performed by the Beatles, I do enjoy some of their songs as performed by other musicians (Earth Wind & Fire, etc). The movie was…weird, in a harmless, light-hearted way. Visually and musically, it’s an entertaining movie - if you take away the dialog and just see the pictures and hear the music, it’s not too bad. But the most amazing aspect of the movie - seen 30 years later - is seeing so many musical superstars of then and now all gathered together. Peter Frampton - The Bee Gees - Billy Preston - Aerosmith.
* Interesting that two of those artists - Frampton and Aerosmith - also appeared in two of the better episodes of “The Simpsons,” by the way.

Earth Wind and Fire DID do a good cover - I’ll give you that.
