Pushing Daisies Tonight!
Don’t forget - tonight is another episode of the delightfully whimsical “Pushing Daisies!” Last week’s episode - “Dummy” - was very cool; the smiling, way-too-enthusiastic villain was great, especially when he was giving his presentation to the Asian visitors. And his use of the “talking killer” cliche was handled cleverly, since none of our heroes could hear him.

And from Pushing Daisies Insider comes a little insight into the show’s unique, almost “fairy-tale”-like look:
From its hyperactive color palette to its fantastical sets and props, Pushing Daisies looks like nothing else on TV. And that’s exactly how production designer Michael Wylie wanted it: “My goal was a storybook come to life. I wanted everything to look almost like an illustration.” He achieved it by concentrating on “conflicting patterns in different colors,” particularly reds and oranges, but per director Barry Sonnenfeld, virtually no blues.
And I made a connection while watching last week: Ned’s dog is named Digby, and the narrator of the show, Jim Dale, was the human star of the 1973 movie “Digby:The Biggest Dog In The World.” Nice touch.

I hope this show survives, I totally think it’s great. It’s morbid a bit, but they keep it on the lighter side and so far it hasn’t been gross. Love the way it looks too!

I LOVE THIS SHOW. It is very Tim Burton-esque, but with a touch more whimsy I am not usually a voice over fan, but in this case, the VO really lends the show a retro feel.

[…] I’ve been considering a new Theme for quite a while…and finally settled on Modern Paper from Performancing. I did some very minor tweaking - line spacing, column width, etc. Only two problems so far: can’t figure out how to properly format images (see here), and the two sidebars appear under blog entries on archived pages.
