Stupor Delegate Pelosi
Stephen Green, aka Vodkapundit, noted this last week:
“Superdelegate Christine Pelosi (daughter of Speaker Nancy) tells Sean Hannity that she’s ‘torn between my gender and my generation.’ Either she’s a perfect example of the identity politics that plague the Democrats, or there’s not one difference between Clinton and Obama important enough to sway Pelosi with substance. . . .”
Emphasis mine.
The stupidity of that comment is just breathtaking. By “gender,” of course, she means Hillary Clinton: she is considering voting for Hillary because she is a woman. And the other choice is bit more ambiguous, but still moronic: she is considering voting for Obama because he is either (a) black, and therefore a vote for him would prove that she is so enlightened that race isn’t a factor in her decision - which of course proves the opposite, or (b) younger than the other candidates, and therefore of “her” generation, which is silly because voting for someone because they are roughly the same age as you are is just…bizarre.
Either way, it doesn’t speak well of Super Delegate Pelosi. In the words of the Captain:
If you vote for Sen. Obama because he is black, you are racist.
If you vote for Sen. Clinton because she is a woman, you are sexist.
It’s no surprise that Democrats are the party of race and gender-based politics, but it is somewhat surprising to see it expressed so blatantly.
