I’m sure some of you realize this, but for anyone who is the process of being sucked in to the gaping maw of the “greening” of modern society: Environmentalism is the 21st-century version of Communism. And just as in organized religion, both require “sacrifices” and complete submission to a force or cause greater than oneself; both mandate that no one can ever do enough for the cause. The only difference is that instead of being owned by the State (Communism), or by the Church (religion), Man instead becomes the property of Mother Earth in Environmentalism.
Attempts by Al Gore and his ilk - and most of the mainstream media - to portray “the environment” as a noble effort that must be served at all costs is slowly going to destroy civilization. Which, ultimately, is what the eco-warriors truly want.
Don’t buy it. Don’t fall for the supposed “coolness” or the the endless commercials or the taunts to become the next “greatest generation” based on this garbage.
The only antidote to the eco-idiots is to continue to exploit the earth. And whenever possible - and economically feasible - don’t purchase any “green” products that are advertised as such.

So after reading that Starbucks wouldn’t print a personalized gift card with the phrase “laissez-faire” on it, I decided to give it a try, too. I addressed it to “Capitalist Pig” and added the phrase “laissez-faire” on the card, and authorized Starbucks to charge me $25. The next day, I received the following message:
Thank you for placing your My Customized Starbucks Card order online at Starbucks.com.
The following message provides information regarding your Card order. We were unable to accept your order as it did not comply with our Personalization policy. If you have questions regarding why your image was rejected, please visit our Personalization policy online
Well, damn. Is it possible that Starbucks doesn’t want my business? Or the business of anyone who believes in capitalism and laissez-faire philosophy?
UPDATE: on a more positive note, Rational Jenn was able to get her card approved with the phrase “Ayn Rand Was Right!” Good on ya, Jenn.
I’m sure that some of you have seen or read about the controversy of the “Please Speak English” sign at a Philly cheesesteak shop. Over at MetaFilter, I posted my two cents about the issue, siding with the owner of the shop by stating: Private enterprise. Free speech. His business, his livelihood. To me, it’s strictly a matter of free enterprise and free speech.
But my two cents enraged someone named “Rich” who sent me the following e-mail:
I understand you’re a racist white asshole, but do you really mean to imply that nobody is allowed to complain about racism? That said, it’s your life, so feel free to be a crazy, asshole,
death-worshipping, anti-christian, right-wing asshole, who basically lives his entire life as the opposite of Jesus.Your life. Your right to be an unChristian racist fuck.
DIAF. HAND.
Wow. Quite a rant, eh? Let’s break it down:
I am not racist. I am white. I don’t think most people consider me an “asshole.” I’m not crazy. I am certainly not “death-worshipping.” I am anti-Christian, in the sense that I am an atheist. I am not a “fuck.” I do veer towards the right-wing. I do live my life as the “opposite of Jesus,” in the sense that I do not preach altruism or worship invisible pink unicorns.
Oh, and I’m not sure what the “DIAF HAND” reference means.
But overall, I think that “Rich” proves, once again, that the true intolerant racists generally tend to be left-wing liberals. His e-mail is filled with so much hatred and venom that I am sure that he is progressive weenie, puffed up with so much pride about how enlightened and tolerant he is, all the while spewing venom at anyone with views different than his.
