After more than seven years here at www.davidmsc.com, the time has come…yep, I’m moving!

More details coming soon, but for now, you can begin checking out my latest dreck over at David In Great Falls. I’m going to import a few entries from here at BLTB, but for now it’s pretty sparse. For now.
UPDATE: several reasons for this…first, I have wanted to dump the host of this site (Cedant) for years - the services offered just don’t compare with more “modern” hosts such as GoDaddy and Host Matters. Second, it will save me the $18.95 per month that I’ve been spending on Cedant, when for $11/month I’m already hosting GreaterFalls.com with Host Matters, and it doesn’t cost me anything more to add another blog over there. And third, in my post-military life, I’m trying really hard to simplify lots of things - like my sites.
One favor: can you update your bookmarks and/or your subscriptions to reflect the new location? You can subscribe in one of two ways:

Much obliged, folks. Thanks for everything here at Better Living Thru Blogging!
How many of you are excited about the release of “Cloverfield?” It sure does seem intriguing, and will probably get me into the theater. I don’t recall seeing a “monster” movie generate so much buzz since…um…never. So what can we expect? Well, there are 8 things that “Cloverfield” won’t be, and there are 10 reasons why “Cloverfield” lives up to the hype. So which will it be?
Me, I’m just hoping that the movie doesn’t wind up being the “Blair Witch Monster” — in other words, sucky and stupid and wanting your money back because nothing scary, dramatic, or interesting occurs, despite assurances to the contrary.

Watched “Grizzly Man” on the Discovery Channel yesterday. I remember, vaguely, hearing about the so-called “Bear Whisperer” several years ago when the man who loves bears and lived among them for over a decade was killed and eaten by one of the bears. Until watching the Discovery Channel show, however, I had no idea how mentally unbalanced this man was.
His name was Timothy Treadwell, and in the videos of himself that he recorded in Alaska - among the bears and foxes - it is pretty obvious that he was suffering from mental illness of some sort. Megalomania, some paranoia (especially in later years), and arguably some repressed issues about sexuality. He honestly believed that he was the lone protector of Alaska’s bears, for some reason, and was convinced that the entire human population was “against” him. He slipped from caring about bears to believing that they were superior to humans, and if given the choice, I suspect that he would have gladly exterminated the human race - himself included - in order to turn the planet into one giant bear haven.
On a more positive note, however, he did take some amazing pictures.
In the online world, it’s tough to snag 15 seconds of fame, let alone 15 whole minutes…but every now and then a brief video manages to capture the attention of a large group of online people, who tell other “real” people, and the video winds up in people’s mailboxes, and mashed-up into many permutations, and then, eventually, shuffles off the mortal, only to live again in Google searches and archives. The folks over at Mashable have put together a list of what they believe are the Top Five Viral Videos of 2007, and are asking people to vote for their favorite.
For me, there is only one true Viral Video of 2007: the Dramatic Chipmunk! I love this little guy, and the dozens of re-mixes. So head on over to Mashable and cast your vote, and remember: Vote Dramatic!
Looks like Mike Huckabee’s campaign has touched off a bit of a firestorm with the latest campaign ad. Actually, it’s not really a “campaign” ad - it’s simply a message from Mike Huckabee to remind everyone about the real reason for Christmas. Hey, the man is a minister, so if he wants to tell people about the “reason for the season,” then I’ve got no problem with it. But there a lot of people who claim that the window (or bookshelf) in the background of the ad is actually a cross - you know, the kind that symbolizes Christianity. Gee…the man is a Christian, it’s the Christmas season - if it isn’t a cross, it probably should be.
But here’s the funny thing: some people don’t see a cross at all. There are reports that the ghost from “Three Men And A Baby” can be seen in the background, and still other people claim that the phallus from the cover of “The Little Mermaid” is visible in the background. I don’t know - here’s a couple of screenshots - what do YOU see?
